Greencoat UK Wind plc and SSE plc has entered into an agreement for the sale of a 25.1% non-operating stake owned by SSE in the 367 MW Walney Offshore Wind Farm in UK for GBP350 million (US$468.96 million).
The deal will cover up to 92 MW of the total generating capacity in the wind farm. The project is jointly owned by Danish energy major Ørsted A/S (50.1%) and Dutch pension fund PGGM (24.8%).
Located approximately 15km from the coastline of Walney Island, the wind farm consists of Walney 1 and Walney 2 each comprising 51 Siemens wind turbines with a total capacity of 367 MW, enough electricity to power over 320,000 UK homes. It has been fully operational since 2012.
