The renewable energy developers Energy Isles, in partnership with Statkraft, has secured planning consent from the Scottish Government for the development of the 160 MW wind farm in Yell.
The final proposal of the project will have the development of 23 wind turbines in the area, 14 of which will have a tip height of 200 meters while nine will have a tip height of 180 meters. Once completed, these will generate equivalent energy to the annual consumption of up to 190,000 houses.
The project will generate about GBP20.3 million (US$26.15 million) during its construction.
