The UK Government has provided GBP9.4 million (US$12.54 million) funding for the development of the first phase of a 20 MW hydrogen production facility in Scotland.
The project is proposed by the Green Hydrogen for Scotland Consortium, a consortium of companies formed by ScottishPower, BOC Ltd, and ITM Power Plc. The hydrogen facility will be installed at the site of the 539 MW Whitelee wind farm of ScottishPower Renewables near Glasgow.
The government funding will cover a 10 MW portion of the Whitelee Windfarm hydrogen production and storage project. The financing was awarded through UK's Energy Innovation Portfolio competition.
