Gore Street Energy Storage Fund appointed Nidec as engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor for its energy storage assets in Ferrymuir and Stony ahead of their planned start of operations in February 2023.
The assets are both of one-hour duration, beginning-of-life energy storage systems, with 49.9 MW Ferrymuir located in county Fife and connecting to the Scottish Power Distribution network, while 79.9 MW Stony is located close to Milton Keynes and connecting to the Western Power Distribution grid.
The contracts with Nidec include the EPC agreements and long-term service agreements for maintenance and operation, including availability and energy capacity warranties, and will require the engineer to meet "stringent performance requirements". The assets are scheduled to be energized in the fourth quarter of 2022, with both expected to achieve commercial operations in February 2023.
