Fujitsu Australia has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for a term of 10 years sourcing renewable energy through CWP Renewables’ 250 MW Sapphire Wind Farm project in New South Wales, Australia.
The deal will commence on June 30, 2022, and could offset around 30,000 tonnes of Fujitsu Australia’s carbon emissions each year and provide renewable electricity equivalent to around 40 percent of its NSW data center load, or about 30 percent of Fujitsu’s annual Australian electricity consumption. This also equates to the yearly energy needs of approximately 9,000 NSW homes.
The project started operation in 2018. It consists of 75 Vestas V126-3.45 MW turbines with Power Optimised Mode to 3.6 MW turbines.
