Indian government Prime Minister has laid the foundation stone of SJVN Limited’s 200 MW Solar Power Project (GUVNL Phase – XVII) at Khavda Solar Park in Gujarat’s Kachchh district.
The Project is a part of Khavda Solar Park, which is being developed by Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited (GSECL). It is set to deliver clean energy to Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) for 25 years at a tariff of INR 2.88 per unit. With an investment of INR 866.8 crore (US$98 million), the project is expected to generate about 504.92 million units of electricity in its first year of operation and a cumulative 11,620 million units over its lifespan. It will also help avoid nearly 5.69 lakh tonnes of carbon emissions over its lifetime. The solar project is scheduled for commissioning by December 31, 2026. The Khavda Solar Power project will not only strengthen Gujarat’s renewable energy portfolio but will also utilise the vast arid tracts of Kachchh for sustainable power generation.
SJVN, a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) under the Ministry of Power, has commissioned 14 projects to date, delivering a combined installed capacity of 2,968 MW along with 123 km of transmission infrastructure. The company is steadily broadening its presence in India and Nepal, with multiple projects currently under different phases of development.
