The State Foundation for Environmental Protection (Fepam) of Brazil has issued the preliminary license (LP) to Rio Energy Desenvolvimento de Renovaveis SA for the development of the 435 MW Pinheiro Machado Wind Complex located in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
The wind complex is comprised of three wind farms namely: the 145 MW Asperezas, 132.5 MW Curral de Pedras, and 157.5 MW Torrinhas wind projects that will be installed at the border between the municipalities of Piratini and Pinheiro Machado. The wind complex will have a total of 174 2.5 MW wind turbines once fully operational.
Rio Energy will now secure the Installation License (LI) to start the construction works in the site.
