Eurus Energy America, a unit of Japan’s Eurus Energy Holdings, has decided to withdraw its bid to construct the 46.8 MW Palehua wind project on Hawaii’s Oahu island.
The company has cited the risk factors associated with developing wind farms. Eurus will continue to operate the Eurus Waianae Solar Plant.
The wind project is planned to be installed in the Waianae Range. It will be equipped with 13 wind turbines capable of delivering around 150,000 MWh per year. The 22-year power purchase deal was signed with the Hawaiian Electric Co. at the cost of US$0.1098 per kWh.
