Bord na Móna and ESB have achieved financial close on the EUR150 million (US$175.80 million) Oweninny II project in North County Mayo, Ireland.
Located between Crossmolina and Bangor Erris, the project joins Ireland's first commercial wind farm, Bord na Móna’s Bellacorrick wind farm, and Phase 1 of Oweninny (89 MW) which was commissioned in 2019. The Oweninny II project will have up to 31 wind turbines and will generate enough energy to power about 70,000 homes per year.
The wind farm will be developed by Oweninny Power DAC, a 50/50 joint venture (JV) between ESB and Bord na Mona. It will be financed with long-term debt from a consortium of banks including AIB, BNP Paribas, and the European Investment Bank (EIB).
Siemens Energy, together with its consortium partner Sumitomo Electric, has signed a contract with Greenlink Interconnector Limited.
