Equinor to postpone further development of Trollvind offshore wind project

Equinor has announced that it will postpone the development of the Trollvind offshore wind initiative indefinitely. The decision was made due to a combination of challenges, including technology and regulatory issues, rising costs, and a constrained timeline to deliver on the original concept. The authorities have been informed about the decision, and Equinor has indicated its continued commitment to developing offshore wind projects.

The original concept for Trollvind has become unviable due to changes in the preferred technology not being available. The revised technical solutions have made the concept less attractive and commercially unsustainable. Despite significant efforts to mature the project, it has not been possible to move forward with it at this time.

Equinor is a Norwegian multinational energy company headquartered in Stavanger, Norway with operations in thirty-six countries.
