French energy companies Engie SA and Neoen SA will soon launch the four-month public debate for the proposed 1 GW solar complex in partnership with the transmission network operator RTE and the local authorities at the small town of Saucats in France.
The Horizeo solar photovoltaic complex will be located in Saucats in the Gironde department of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. The 1 GW solar complex will have a 40 MW energy storage system and a 10 MW electrolyzer for green hydrogen production. The estimated investment in the project is about EUR1 billion (US$1.19 billion).
The project will occupy an area of around 1,000 hectares (2,471 acres) of land. The developers are planning that some portions of the proposed project will be turned into agrivoltaic installations to enable fruit and vegetable growing and mitigate the potential environmental impact of the project.
