Enel Green Power North America, Inc., a unit of Enel Group, has started the construction of its 497 MW Roadrunner solar photovoltaic project in Upton County, Texas, USA.
The facility is developed in two phases with Phase I of around 252 MW and Phase II of 245 MW capacity, respectively. Once completed, Roadrunner is set to be the largest solar facility in Enel’s US portfolio and the largest solar project in the state of Texas. This is the company’s second project to begin construction in Texas in 2019, following the 450 MW High Lonesome wind project in January.
Once fully operational, the solar plant will be able to generate approximately 1.2 TWh annually, while avoiding the emission of over 800,000 million tons of CO2 per year.
