Enel Green Power files an environmental impact declaration (DIA) for the 404 MW Sierra Gorda solar photovoltaic (PV) farm to be built in the Chilean region of Antofagasta, with an investment of US$400 million.
Enel Green Power submitted the proposal for the construction and operation of the Sierra Gorda Solar Photovoltaic Plant, transmission line and substation, to the country’s environmental assessment authority, Servicio de Evaluacion Ambiental (SEA).
The Sierra Gorda farm is to be built in about 927.2 hectares (2,403 acres), including temporary structures and access roads And has an installation of a little over a million solar panels.
Enel plans to start construction in February 2021 leading to estimated employment creation for a maximum of 903 people during construction and 12 during the operational period which is expected to last 25 years.
