Ence Energia y Celulosa SA, a renewable energy company and pulp mill operator based in Spain, has commissioned the 50 MW biomass-fired power plant facility in the autonomous community of Castilla-La Mancha.
The EUR100 million (US$111 million) project located in the province of Ciudad Real uses organic matters such as orujillo, vine shoots, and shoots, olive leaf, and woody forest and agricultural remains as its fuel. It can accommodate up to 238,000 tons per year of biomass that can generate up to 25,000 MWh of energy annually.
The power plant is situated at the former Elcogas thermal facility.
