Enel Green Power (EGP) and Moroccan energy company Nareva Holding have signed a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Moroccan National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) and the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (MASEN) for the planned 270 MW Jbel Lahdid wind farm project in Essaouira.
The project is part of Morocco’s Integrated Wind Energy Programme that would involve the construction of up to 1000 MW of wind energy by 2024.
In 2016, EGP and Nareva have been awarded as the consortium developer that will design, finance, build, operate, and manage the wind project following a call for tenders. The project will represent up to US$314 million of investment. The commissioning of the wind farm is slated for the second half of 2023.
