EDP Renewables (EDPR) has started the commercial operation and connected its first international hybrid plant to the grid with the commissioning of the 8.4 MW Mina de Orgueirel solar farm and the adjacent 11 MW Mosteiro wind park located in Sabugal, Portugal.
The solar farm consists of over 17,000 bifacial solar panels. The hybrid plant is expected to produce up to 39.5 GWh of clean energy per year, enough for the energy consumption of up to 30,000 homes. The two projects are designed to offset carbon emissions by as much as 18,000 tonnes per year.
EDPR is a Spanish that designs, develops, manages, and operates power plants that generate electricity using renewable energy sources. EDPR Europe, headquartered in Madrid, manages assets located in the European Union, and other Regions.
