EDP Renewables, through its unit EDP Renewables North America LLC, has completed the repowering of the Blue Canyon II onshore wind farm lifting the capacity to 162 MW from 151 MW.
The project consists of 84 turbines of which 73 were upgraded to the V110 2-MW model by Vestas Wind Systems A/S. Blue Canyon II was opened in 2003 and generates enough power for the consumption of up to 94,000 homes.
EDP estimates that the repowering extends the project's life by an additional of 20-30 years.
