EDF Renewables announced operations of 577 MW Solar project in USA

EDF Renewables and Enbridge have launched the 577 MWac/749 MWdc Fox Squirrel Solar project spread across approximately 3,444 acres in Madison County, Ohio, USA.

Fox Squirrel Solar is owned in a 50-50 partnership between EDF Renewables and Enbridge. The solar farm comprises 1.4 million Canadian solar modules on Array trackers and 159 SMA inverters. The electricity generated by the project will be supplied to Amazon through power purchase agreements (PPAs). Under a PPA, a third-party developer installs, owns, and operates the energy system, selling the electricity it produces to a customer for a specified duration.

The project commenced operations in three stages: the first phase (Fox Squirrel 1: 150 MWac /194 MWdc) began supplying power to the PJM grid in December 2023, followed by the second phase (Fox Squirrel 2: 250 MWac /325 MWdc) in July 2024, and the final phase (Fox Squirrel 3: 177 MWac /230 MWd) in December 2024.
