EDF Power Solutions UK, previously EDF Renewables, has acquired the 500 MW Gate Burton Energy Park project in Lincolnshire from Low Carbon.
Once operational, the project will be capable of delivering enough solar capacity to power approximately 160,000 homes while also providing critical flexibility to the grid through integrated battery storage. Gate Burton will join EDF Power Solutions UK’s growing portfolio of nationally significant solar and storage projects, including Longfield in Essex — which received consent in June 2023 — as well as two other large-scale projects currently progressing through the planning process: Springwell Solar Farm in Lincolnshire and Rosefield Solar Farm in Buckinghamshire.
Low Carbon sale would support its development pipeline, which includes over 1GW of operational and under-construction assets. It expects to begin construction on more than 400 MW of additional UK solar and battery projects over the next 18 months.
