Through its Japanese joint venture Japan Offshore Marine (JOM), DEME has secured a contract with Penta-Ocean Construction Co., Ltd. for the engineering works and offshore installation of 21 Vestas V236-15 MW wind turbines at the Oga–Katagami–Akita Offshore Wind Project in Japan.

The contract includes engineering services and the chartering of a vessel for the offshore installation of 21 wind turbines as part of the agreement between Oga Katagami Akita Offshore Green Energy LLC and Penta-Ocean Construction Co., Ltd. Under the project, Japan Offshore Marine (JOM) will install 21 Vestas V236-15 MW turbines, representing the first use of 15 MW-class offshore wind turbines in Japan and the first deployment of turbines of this scale outside Europe, excluding China. The installation campaign will be executed using the jack-up offshore transport and installation vessel Sea Challenger, which is expected to operate under the Japanese flag when offshore activities begin. Offshore installation work is planned to commence in the second half of 2027.

Japan Offshore Marine (JOM), a Tokyo-headquartered joint venture formed by Penta-Ocean Construction Co., Ltd. and DEME, brings together global offshore wind experience and local project delivery expertise to advance Japan’s offshore wind sector. The project further reinforces DEME’s presence in Japan and represents an important milestone in establishing a long-term partnership that contributes to the country’s transition toward renewable energy and sustainable power generation.
