Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) has announced that the commissioning of the 60.5 MW Kennedy Energy Park in North Queensland, which combines wind, solar and energy storage technologies, will be delayed by almost two years. The commercial operation date of the complex will be moved from August 2019 to July 2021.
The development is due to problems associated with developers Windlab Ltd and Eurus Energy Holdings Corp. Windlab Ltd has still expected the project to be registered as a generator in September and fully commissioned in the last quarter of 2019.
The Kennedy complex consisting 43.2 MW of wind, 15 MW of solar and 2 MW/4 MWh of Tesla battery storage, has started to generate power but operates under a 5 MW export limit. The grid-connection was delayed due to new generation performance standards. The project was completed before the end of 2018.
