The consortium developers of the East Rockingham Resource Recovery Facility has commissioned ACCIONA to deliver the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract for the development of the 29 MW East Rockingham Resource Recovery Facility and energy-from-waste (EfW) plant in Perth.
Acciona will deliver the project in partnership with Hitachi Zosen INOVA (HZI). The contract includes the design, construction, financing, and operation of a greenfield EfW plant. The project is set to recover resources from 300,000 tonnes per year of municipal, commercial and industrial sources residual waste and up to 30,000 tonnes per year of biosolids. Once operational, the facility can generate approximately 29 MW of reliable renewable energy, enough to power over 36,000 homes.
The construction of the project is expected to be launched by the fourth quarter of 2019.
The development consortium of New Energy Corporation, Tribe Infrastructure Group, and HZI was established in 2016 and has since won a series of competitive tenders for long-term contracts with local and regional government authorities in the Perth metropolitan area.
