Deep Wind Offshore, in partnership with Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP), has secured a crucial Electricity Business License (EBL) from South Korea’s Electricity Regulatory Commission for the 345 MW Admiral Lee offshore wind project, located off the coast of Yeosu, Jeollanam‑do.
This significant permit marks the project’s progression from development into its next phases, enabling it to move forward with the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and the formal Implementation Plan Approval, paving the way for participation in upcoming REC (Renewable Energy Certificate) / PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) auctions. The EBL follows the earlier issuance of a Public Waters Occupancy and Use Permit (PWOP) in December 2024 and is regarded as the first of several expected licenses for Admiral Lee, which plans to scale capacity beyond 1 GW based on high‑resolution wind data gathered via floating LiDAR in May 2025. This milestone reflects the strategic collaboration between Deep Wind and KHNP—combining international offshore‑wind expertise with local execution capability—and underscores the partnership’s role in advancing South Korea’s ambitious offshore‑wind ambitions.
