Bee’ah and Masdar consortium, the project owners of the Sharjah waste-to-energy (WTE) plant concession, has announced the completion of construction works for the project in the United Arab Emirates.

The 30 MW WTE plant will treat more than 300,000 tonnes of municipal solid waste per year. It has the capacity to incinerate up to 37.5 tonnes of solid waste per hour, generating 30 MW of energy.

Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) provided US$33 million of financing for the plant. The project will help achieve Sharjah's goal of zero waste disposal, as well as the UAE’s goal of removing 75% of its municipal solid waste from landfills by 2021.
