Neoen has announced the start of construction on the 21.7 MWp Threecastles solar farm, which is located near Blessington, County Wicklow, Ireland.
Neoen has issued notices to proceed with the Engineering, Procurement and Construction(EPC) contracts for the Threecastles solar farm project. Omexom will handle the construction, while TLI Group will manage the substation and grid connection. This solar farm will be Neoen’s second in County Wicklow and is set to be commissioned in 2026. It will generate enough energy to power approximately 4,400 homes, reducing CO2 emissions by 6,000 tonnes annually.
With the addition of Threecastles, Neoen's total operational or under-construction capacity in Ireland exceeds 210 MW. This includes an ongoing 79 MWp solar farm, three operational solar farms (58 MWp), and eight wind farms (53 MW). The start of Threecastles' construction follows Neoen’s success in the RESS 4 auction in September 2024, where they secured two new solar projects totaling 170 MWp.
