Construction completed of utility-scale solar facility in Canada

Nova Scotia authorities have announced the completion of its largest utility-scale solar facility in Canada.

The Mahone Bay project, boasting a capacity of 4.8 MW, has become Nova Scotia's largest operational solar plant, while the Berwick plant, with a capacity of 2.4 MW, significantly contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. These initiatives feature LG solar modules, SMA Sunny Highpower Peak 3 inverters, and Goldbeck's proprietary Solar Phlegon fixed tracking system. Named after and owned by their respective towns, Mahone Bay is situated on the south shore, and Berwick is located not far from the north shore of the province.

Developed by AREA, a municipally owned clean energy project developer, in collaboration with Goldbeck Solar, the combined output from both plants can power approximately 803 homes annually. The Berwick Solar Garden is anticipated to eliminate around 3,859 metric tons of carbon dioxide each year, equivalent to removing 893 gas-powered cars from the roads.
