Commercial Operation started for 375 MWdc/300MWac Solar+Storage Project in USA

EDF Renewables North America (EDFR) and Power Sustainable Energy Infrastructure Inc. (PSEI) announced that their jointly owned 375 MWdc/300MWac solar, combined with a 150 MWac/4-hour battery energy storage system (BESS) Desert Quartzite Solar Plus Storage Project achieved operational status.

Desert Quartzite, situated on federally managed land in Riverside County, California, is designed to store solar-generated electricity in batteries during peak production hours. This stored energy is then released later in the day or at night to help balance supply and demand. The electricity produced is sold to Clean Power Alliance (CPA) through a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA).

At full capacity, Desert Quartzite will generate enough electricity to power over 163,000 California homes. This will help reduce more than 669,000 metric tons of CO₂ emissions annually—the equivalent of taking over 145,000 passenger vehicles off the road for a year. The project plays a key role in supporting California’s climate goals by cutting greenhouse gas emissions and promoting clean energy.
