Chevron has agreed to buy Renewable Energy Group, a biodiesel producer based in the United States, for US$3.15 billion in cash.
REG has 11 renewable fuels facilities in the United States and Europe that produce 34,000 b/d of biodiesel and renewable diesel. The firm is now planning to expand its flagship 6,000 b/d renewable diesel plant in Geismar, Louisiana, to 22,000 b/d by 2024.
