Casa dos Ventos has announced that it has signed a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Vale SA for the Folha Larga wind farm Located in Campo Formoso, Bahia. With an installed capacity of 151.2 MW, the project has contracted energy for 23 years, the longest term already guaranteed by a wind farm in the country. Under the agreement, all investment in the plant - of BRL 750 million (US$ 200 million) - is the responsibility of Casa dos Ventos. The commercial operation is expected to start in the first half of 2020.
The Folha Larga Sul project will have 36 state-of-the-art turbines from Denmark's Vestas, the world leader in the manufacture of wind turbines. The works begin in April of this year and have one of the first loans contracted at Banco do Nordeste (BNB) for the free market.
