BYD Company and Orion-E Sustainable Energy have signed an agreement to develop 100 MWp of solar projects in Brazil. According to the agreement, within the next two years, the companies will develop a total of 1,000 distributed generation (DG) solar systems, each with a capacity of 100-kWp. The DG solar systems will be implemented on land leased from small rural producers. BYD will provide engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services for the solar arrays through its local partners. Orion-E will be responsible for output distribution by leasing the plants to the end customers.
The project development marks BYD's entry into Brazil's solar industry, further expanding its renewable energy global footprint. Brazil, an emerging solar market, has seen increased demand for solar power across industrial and residential sectors. The partnership strengthens the country’s commitment to developing its renewable energy capacity and reducing dependence on non-renewable sources.
Once completed, the projects will have the capacity to supply the equivalent of 30,000 homes and together will add significant value to Brazil's clean energy goals. This joint venture between BYD and Orion-E Sustainable Energy is expected to expand the scale of operations in the solar industry in Brazil and open up opportunities for innovative partnership models in the region.
