BTE Renewables, in partnership with Craftskills, a Kenyan-owned renewable developer, has reached the commercial operation of the 100 MW Kipeto wind project located in Kajiado County, Kenya.
The project consists of 60 units of GE 1.7-103 wind turbines and is expected to generate enough energy to supply the consumption of about 250,000 homes.
The project has a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with KPLC.
The Kipeto wind project has reached a financial close in December of 2018, marking the beginning of its two-year construction phase.
