BrightNight has announced its plans to develop the 100 MW Optima wind-solar hybrid project in India. The hybrid system is anticipated to provide Maharashtra's commercial and industrial (C&I) customers with clean, high-capacity factor electricity.
Optima will comprise of co-located wind and solar components, maximizing the use of grid infrastructure and facilitating grid operator efficiency. The project will satisfy up to 80% of power demand and could save customers up to 25% yearly on energy bills while preventing carbon emissions equivalent to up to 6 million tonnes throughout the project's lifetime.
BrightNight plans to launch the project by the Q1 of 2024. The company will collaborate with C&I customers to establish long-term power offtake agreements.
