The Brazilian Ministry of Mines and Energy has planned to conduct a roadshow to seek investors for the completion of the Angra 3 nuclear power plant. The MME should complete preparations for the circuit of visits to potential investors in 30 days.
Angra-3 is planned to work alongside Angra 1 and 2, which is between Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. The facility uses high-pressure superheated water as coolant and neutron moderator. The chain reaction in the nuclear fuel heats water in the primary to over 300ºC, with the hot water pumped into a steam generator or heat exchanger to boil water in the secondary coolant loop, which drives a steam turbine. The primary and secondary coolant loops keep radioactive water in the first loop separate from that used to drive the steam generator.
Construction of the project has started on June 2010.
