BluEarth Renewables Inc has started the construction of the 145 MW Hand Hills wind farm project located in the Starland County of Alberta in Canada.
The project has a total investment cost of about CAD250 million (US$194.72). Once operational, it is expected to generate enough power for the consumption of up to 68,000 homes.
BluEarth Renewable has contracted the 100 MW portion of the project and the associated emission offsets to Shell Energy North America Canada Inc. It has recently closed a CAD145 million (US$112.94 million) non-recourse debt for the project with ATB Financial acting as the Administrative Agent and Coordinating Lead Arranger, and Desjardins, Royal Bank of Canada, and Siemens Financial acting as Joint Lead Arrangers.
