Black Hills seeks federal approval to acquire 80 MW Iowa wind project from Olympus

Black Hills Electric Generation LLC filed an application with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, seeking approval to purchase the 80 MW Top of Iowa Wind Farm in Worth County, Iowa.

The Black Hills Corp. subsidiary will acquire the facility from Olympus Power LLC unit Blue Marlin Energy Holdings LLC. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

According to S&P Global Market Intelligence data, the wind farm entered service in 2001 and previously held a power purchase agreement with Alliant Energy Corp. subsidiary Interstate Power & Light Co.

Output of the facility is currently being sold into markets administered by the Midcontinent ISO, according to the application.
