Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee has opened the bids for the proposed Quang Ninh LNG-to-power project that would represent up to US$2 billion.
The following four teams have registered to invest in the project- Sojitz Corporation, China Power International Holding Ltd, the joint venture of aks Resources Berhad and TNB Power Generation Sdn., Bhd., and the joint venture between PV Power, Colavi JSC, Tokyo Gas, and Marubeni. The team of PV Power is selected to move forward to complete the dossier for the investment certificate after they submit all project requirements.
The project will be implemented in the city of Cam Pha, covering about 56 hectares that include 13.38 hectares of offshore area. It will include a 1.5 GW power plant, a gas storage, and an LNG port with an annual capacity of 2.4 million tonnes.
