German chemicals group BASF SE has partnered with envia Mitteldeutsche Energie AG (enviaM) for the development of the 24 MWp solar photovoltaic project located in the state of Brandenburg in Germany.
The project will have up to 52,000 solar panels that will be installed in about 24 hectares of land in the town of Schwarzheide. BASF will buy the energy output of the plant under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA). The solar farm represents about EUR13 million (US$14.65 million) of investment for the solar park and the substation.
EnviaM's subsidiary envia THERM GmbH will build and operate the project that is expected to be operational by the second half of 2023.
