Electricity Generation Co. of Bangladesh (EGCB) has issued a procurement notice for a 220 MW solar project near its existing 75 MW Sonagazi facility. The project includes both the development of the solar power plant and associated consultancy services, such as design evaluation, construction supervision, and performance monitoring. The construction component will be implemented under an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract, covering detailed design, equipment supply, installation, testing, and commissioning. The project comprises three components, such as:
The works component includes design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of a 220 MW (AC) Solar PV Power Plant. A 220 MWac solar power plant and the second circuit of the existing 230 kV Transmission Line (including GIS/AIS bays at respective substations) will be constructed under this component. Stringing the 2nd circuit of the existing 230 kV Transmission Line (including GIS/AIS bays at respective substations) is included within the scope of the EPC Contract.
The Consultancy services include procurement of Consultancy Services for Design Review, Supervision and Monitoring. Design Review, Supervision and Monitoring Consultant will assist EGCB in implementing an EPC contract of at least 220 MWac Solar Power Plant through an EPC Contractor from design, procurement, supply, installation & erection, testing and commissioning. The procurement will be done through the Quality & Cost Based Selection (QCBS) method through shortlisting of International Firms.
Under the Livelihood Improvement for Women Empowerment and Youth Development program, procurement will cover several categories of goods: desktop computers and computer laboratory equipment; sewing machines, mobile servicing toolkits, electrician toolkits, and library equipment; livestock and agricultural supplies, including cows, sheep, chickens, seeds, fertilizers, and fish fry; and auto rickshaws for persons with disabilities. All four procurement packages will be carried out using the National Shopping procurement method.
Financing for the project will be provided jointly by the Government of Bangladesh, EGCB, and the Islamic Development Bank, which has pledged US$143.28 million. Companies eligible to supply goods, undertake construction, or deliver consulting services are invited to express interest by contacting EGCB, with no submission deadline currently specified.
