Atlas Renewable Energy has announced the completion of the 98 MW La Pimienta solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Campeche, Mexico. Under the terms of a 15-year contract, the plant will provide energy to the Federal Electric Commission (CFE) to satisfy the Yucatan peninsula's electrical demands.
La Pimienta consists of almost a million solar panels that are installed on 651 ha. The solar facility will generate approximately 789 GWh annually, which is equivalent to providing energy for more than 300,000 households.
The solar project was financed by the Interamerican Development Bank (IDB), National Bank of Public Works and Services (Banobras), MUFG Bank, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), and Société Générale.
