Amata Corporation and B.Grimm Power are investing THB 1.2 billion (US$36 million) through their joint venture, Amata B.Grimm Renewable Energy, to develop a 42.5 MWp floating solar power project at Amata City Chonburi Industrial Estate in Chonburi, Thailand.

The project is being developed through Amata B.Grimm Renewable Energy Co., Ltd., a joint venture between Amata U Co., Ltd., which holds a 75% stake, and B.Grimm Power Smart Solution Co., Ltd., which owns the remaining 25%

The solar energy project will use reservoir space within Amata City Chonburi Industrial Estate to help meet the renewable electricity needs of investors in Amata’s industrial city and support the industrial sector’s transition to a low-carbon economy. Once commercial operations begin, the project is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 29,300 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent annually. By utilizing reservoir space rather than additional land, the project is intended to expand clean-energy supply while strengthening the reliability and sustainability of the industrial estate's utility infrastructure.

The development forms part of Amata’s efforts to transform Amata City into a smart and sustainable industrial city, while B.Grimm Power is pursuing the project under its GreenLeap – Global and Green strategy to increase the share of clean energy in its generation portfolio. The project is also intended to strengthen the reliability and sustainability of the industrial estate’s utility infrastructure and support the needs of high-tech, digital and advanced manufacturing industries. Amata U plans to continue working with strategic partners to expand clean-energy supply and develop utility solutions for future industrial growth.
