Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp has started the construction of its 492 MW Maverick Creek wind project in Texas.
The project is built on about 50,000 acres (20,234 ha) in Concho County and consists of 127 turbines. It can deliver energy for up to 200,000 homes annually.
The wind farm is jointly developed with UK-based Renewable Energy Systems (RES). The project represents a total investment of about US$700 million.
