Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) has awarded an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract for the development of the 110 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project that will provide power for the operation of the Al Jubail 2 water desalination in Saudi Arabia.
The project will include a 380 kV substation and a 172 km overhead transmission system. SWCC will invest up to SAR1.244 (US$331.27 million) to develop the project.
The Al Jubail 2 water desalination plant is expected to produce about 1 million cubic meters of desalinated water per day making it one of the largest water desalination plants in the world.
