Nama Power and Water Procurement Company (Nama PWP) signed a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Sembcorp Utilities (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sembcorp Industries (Sembcorp) and OQ Alternative Energy (OQAE) to develop the Dhofar II Wind Power Project in the Sultanate of Oman.

This joint venture between Sembcorp and OQAE will develop, own, and operate a 125 MW wind farm spanning approximately 12 million square meters, featuring 20 advanced Windey WD200 turbines each rated at 6.25 MW and standing 215 meters tall, connected to the national grid via a 400 kV substation. Expected to commence commercial operations in Q3 of 2027, the project boasts an annual generation capacity of around 396,754 MWh, sufficient to power approximately 18,000 homes, while reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 158,000 tonnes and conserving 76 million cubic meters of natural gas each year. With an investment value of about OMR 43 million (US$111.7 million), the initiative not only bolsters energy diversification under Oman Vision 2040 but also emphasizes local economic growth through the In-Country Value (ICV) program, prioritizing Omani SMEs for contracts to foster job creation, reduce import reliance, and stimulate development in Dhofar.
