Uzbekhydroenergo JSC has signed a joint development agreement for the implementation of a 600 MW hydroelectric power station worth US$1 billion in Bostanlyk, Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
The 600 MW Yuqori Pskem hydroelectric power station (HPP) is a pumped-storage hydroelectric power station. The upper reservoir of the power station is located at an elevation of 2,200 m above sea level, and the lower reservoir is located at an elevation of 1,700 m above sea level. It is used to store excess electricity generated during off-peak hours and then discharge it during peak hours. This helps to balance the electricity grid and ensure that there is always enough electricity to meet demand. The Yuqori Pskem HPP is also used to provide ancillary services to the electricity grid, such as frequency regulation and voltage support. It is a critical piece of infrastructure for Uzbekistan's electricity grid. It helps to ensure that the country has a reliable and sustainable source of electricity.
