Australian utility AGL Energy Ltd has started the construction of the AUD180 million (US$128.23 million) 250 MW/250 MWh energy storage project in Torrens Island in South Australia.
The Torrens Island Power Station project will be constructed in the Adelaide metropolitan area. Finnish group Wartsila Corp will provide energy systems for the project and will also serve as the project’s engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor.
The energy storage project is expected to be operational by early 2023.
