Acciona Energia plans to build a 131.1 MW wind farm project in San Juan de Marcona in the region of Ica in Peru.
The project represents about US$180 million of investment and will have 23 wind turbines of 5.7 MW each generating capacity. The San Juan de Marcona wind farm will be connected to the National Interconnected Electric System (SEIN) via a 33km 220kV transmission line that will be built as part of the project and connected to the Marcona Substation grid.
Once operational, the wind farm can generate up to 608 gigawatts per hour (GWh) of energy per year, enough to meet the needs of about 478,000 homes.
