Celsia Solar Bolivar began to deliver photovoltaic energy to the National Interconnected System of Colombia. This solar plant, of 8.06 MW, began to generate its first megawatts until reaching its maximum capacity.
The project developed by Celsia, an energy company of Grupo Argos, is located in the municipality of Santa Rosa de Lima, in the department of Bolívar, in the north of the country. The solar farm was built through Epsa, with an approximate investment of US$8 million and financed with resources from the company's recent issuance of green bonds.
The solar facility is comprised of 32,000 solar panels spread over an area of 12 hectare (29.6 acre). It is is expected to generate around 15,542 MWh per year, enough to meet the demand of 7,400 local homes and offset around 5,641 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions annually.
In environmental terms, the energy of Celsia Solar Bolivar will prevent the emission of more than 170,000 tons of COR2 for 30 years.
