China Huadian Corporation Ltd. (CHD) has inaugurated a 120 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Tibet. The installation is located at Nagqu, which is roughly 4,500 m above sea level.
The project received an investment of CNY890 million (US$127.8 million) from China Huadian. The facility is capable of producing 247 million kWh of power annually. In 2020, the world's highest utility-scale solar-plus-storage facility was also constructed in Tibet, at an elevation of around 4,700 m.
China Huadian Corporation is one of the five largest state-owned power generation enterprises in China, administrated by SASAC for the State Council. It engages in the generation and supply of electricity and heat, and the development of power-related primary energy.
