Vestas has signed a preferred supplier agreement with Hanwha Corporation E&C Division for the 390 MW Shinan Ui offshore wind project in Shinan County, South Jeolla Province, South Korea.
Shinan Ui Offshore Wind, a special-purpose company established by Hanwha Corporation E&C Division, SK D&D, and KOEN, is overseeing the development of the project. The initiative will incorporate 26 units of V236-15.0 MW turbines, to be installed on stable foundations in the southeastern waters of Ui Island. Vestas is set to provide 20 years of operation and maintenance services for the wind farm upon its operational commencement.
The V236-15.0 MW offshore wind turbine is constructed using established, modern technology and is designed for optimal performance in offshore environments worldwide. Vestas, having secured a type certificate in November 2023, has garnered over 2.8 GW of firm orders for the V236-15.0 MW and is slated to commence serial production in 2024.
The joint venture of Shell and HEXICON AB has selected Vestas as the preferred supplier for the 1.3 GW MunmuBaram floating offshore wind project in South Korea.

Macquarie’s Green Investment Group (GIG) and global energy company Total have signed a series of agreements to co-develop an initial 2.3 GW portfolio of floating offshore wind projects in Korea. The portfolio consists of five projects - three in Ulsan totaling 1.5 GW and two in South Jeolla Province totaling 800 MW.

Macquarie’s Green Investment Group (GIG) has announced that it has completed the installation of Korea’s first floating LiDAR. The installation of the LiDAR is one of the first critical steps in the development of GIG’s first Korean offshore wind farm located about 60 kilometers east of Seosang-myon, Ulju-gun, Ulsan City.
