The joint venture of Shell and HEXICON AB has selected Vestas as the preferred supplier for the 1.3 GW MunmuBaram floating offshore wind project in South Korea.
Vestas will provide and install 84 units of its V236-15.0 MW turbine, which will be built on floating foundations in an estimated 240 km2 site with sea depths ranging from 120 to 150 m. The company will also provide 20 years of service and maintenance after installation.
Srdan Cenic, Country Manager of Vestas Korea & Vice President, said: "As the largest announced floating project world-wide, MunmuBaram will place South Korea as a leading country in floating offshore wind”.
Macquarie’s Green Investment Group (GIG) and global energy company Total have signed a series of agreements to co-develop an initial 2.3 GW portfolio of floating offshore wind projects in Korea. The portfolio consists of five projects - three in Ulsan totaling 1.5 GW and two in South Jeolla Province totaling 800 MW.

Macquarie’s Green Investment Group (GIG) has announced that it has completed the installation of Korea’s first floating LiDAR. The installation of the LiDAR is one of the first critical steps in the development of GIG’s first Korean offshore wind farm located about 60 kilometers east of Seosang-myon, Ulju-gun, Ulsan City.
